A Hit in ASEAN

Effective Management Training for a Cross-Cultural Environment: Proven Success Across ASEAN

For nearly 10 years, WS PARTNERS has empowered managers across ASEAN to lead effectively in today's multicultural business environments.

We equip managers with the holistic, organization-wide perspective valued by Japanese companies, enabling them to maximize team performance through strategic talent development and communication.

Lead with a bigger-picture view to turn team potential into organizational success.
Please find the program details, including schedule and fees, below.

________________

"My defensive subordinate started to trust me."
"My perspective on talent development changed; I used to only give instructions to my team."

These are just a few examples of the transformations experienced by over 1,500 local managers in ASEAN Japanese companies who have participated in our practical Management Development Program (MDP).

While our traditional MDP is an intensive 8–9 month program tailored for individual companies, we're excited to introduce the "Essential Edition." This condensed, online program is designed for individual participants, making it easier than ever to access our acclaimed management training.

We've distilled the key principles of management into a concise four-day program, delivered in two sessions per day.

This program is ideal for newly promoted managers and for developing local managers in small to medium-sized company sites.

1
For HR Professionals

As an HR professional in charge of training, do you find yourself resonating with any of these thoughts?

  • "I'm searching for management training, but I can't find a truly effective program."
  • "I want reliable local instructors to guide our staff."
  • "I need to find a program that's suitable for Japanese companies and will satisfy our Japanese leadership."

2
For Managers and Manager Candidates
Did you know that 77% of Japanese companies feel a shortage of executive-level talent (according to our research)?
Why not further your growth through our training?
  • Do you ever feel lost as a manager, with no one to turn to for advice?
  • Are you unsure about the right way to manage, having never been clearly taught?
  • Do you try your best but sometimes face criticism from your Japanese boss?
  • Are you struggling with difficult team members?
  • Do you aspire to be an even more successful manager?
3
For Presidents and Directors
Do you face any of these challenges concerning your management talent?
  • Individuals promoted to, or being considered for, management positions still think like individual contributors focused only on execution, not managers.
  • Your current managers tend to wait for instructions instead of thinking and acting proactively.
  • You believe your current managers aren't fully meeting expectations.
  • You have issues with people management, but internal guidance isn't yielding results.
  • You want to develop future executive candidates, but their current skills aren't quite there yet.

Key Features of This Program

Engaging Training by our Experienced Facilitator
True understanding goes beyond just lectures.

This program is led directly by our facilitator, who brings a proven track record of success as a corporate manager.
She shares practical, first-hand insights into managerial roles and organisational culture, illustrating key concepts with real-world examples.
Put Your Learning into Practice
A common issue with traditional training is that participants often feel they understand the material but don't actually put it into practice.
Our program addresses this directly.

As homework for the next session, you'll be required to detail what you'll do, when, and with whom, then implement it. We'll review your progress together the following week, a process that has ensured nearly all past participants successfully apply their learning.
Reinforce and Build Habits
Humans forget around 67% of what they learn within just one day.*

Repetitive review helps transfer information into long-term memory. Our program adopts a continuous learning approach, beginning each session with a review to promote habit formation and ensure the material sticks.
(*Hermann Ebbinghaus, 1885. Derived based on the time required for relearning.)

Continuous Learning  Action Based Learning Cycle

Our success in developing managers is distilled into our continuous learning model: weekly 2-hour sessions.

This format requires participants to immediately apply what they've learned before the next session.

With this "continuous" approach, you'll start seeing results even while the program is still underway.

Imagine this:
"My once rebellious subordinate now listens."
"After changing how I give instructions, my team started thinking for themselves."

By experiencing these outcomes first-hand, you'll truly grasp the concepts, making them a lasting habit long after the training concludes.

 Program Contents

*Each session includes assignments for participants to access challenges within their own team and/or develop an action plan to address them.

[Session1] Roles of Management

Explore a manager’s role and identify their own manager style. This session will emphasize how to effectively utilize team resources, using a combination of facilitator’s input and interactive group workshop.

[Session 2],【Session3] Task Management and HoRenSo

As a manager, it is essential to understand clearly what is happening within your team.

  • HoRenSo: A communication method for managing tasks and information within the team
  • How to implement HoRenSo : When, what, how and how it benefits the team
  • Why subordinates may avoid 'HoRenSo' and methods to encourage it.
Participants will gain a convincing grasp of the Horenso Managament by analyzing their team situation and engaging in discussions with other participants.

[Session3], [Session4] Human Resource Retention: Building Trust with Subordinates

When trust is lacking, the manager-subordinate relationship can become a simple ‘order-giver and order-taker’ dynamic.
This approach discourages independent thought, lowers performance and ultimately can lead to employee turnover.
These 2 sessions will cover essential managerial techniques for engaging with your team members.

  • Understanding the importance of a subordinate’s self-esteem.
  • Acquire skills of active listening, offering praise and giving effective feedback

[Session5] - [Session7] Human Resource Development: Develop Subordinates Through Delegation

Developing subordinates is a key part of a manager’s role that benefits both the manager themselves and the organization.
A common challenge for managers is the tendency to hold onto work rather than delegate.
These sessions will cover methods for developing subordinates by entrusting them with work.

  • The Importance of Human Resource Development
  • The key points on giving instructions in a way that fosters subordinate growth when assigning tasks.
  • How to give feedback and advice effectively.
  • How to help subordinates learn from their experiences.

This is a highly impactful session within our manager training, frequently drawing feedback from participants such as:
"My team members have learned their jobs and gained confidence," and "My team members now think for themselves."

[Session8] Review of the Training and Additional Case Studies

Participants will review the key concepts covered so far through discussions and will engage in practical case studies that also serve as a comprehensive recap.

[Training Report from WS Partners]

We will provide a report to the program organizer(s) covering your participant’s engagement and attitude, their actions and learnings.
(Typically, brief reports are sent in Japanese, or online meetings are held.)
